1st Generation
ROBUSO was founded in 1919 by Robert and Julius Buntenbach, the great-grandfather of the current managing director Christian Pukelsheim. The company name refers to the older brother: RObert BUntenbach SOlingen. As their logo, the founders chose the PRETZEL, a culinary specialty of the Solingen district of Burg an der Wupper. In the first decades, ROBUSO produced scissors, straight razors, and razor blades for barbers and cutlery specialty shops.
2nd Generation
In 1948, engineer Johann Pukelsheim, son-in-law of Julius Buntenbach, joined the company and took over management in 1957. He oriented ROBUSO toward the clothing and textile industry and focused production on forged scissors as professional tools. To this day, the ROBUSO-ELASTIC tailor’s scissors with inner spring and micro-serration, which he developed, remain among our strongest products. Through participation in major textile trade fairs, Johann Pukelsheim made ROBUSO a highly respected brand in international professional circles.
3rd Generation
In 1984, Reinhild Mohaupt, daughter of Johann Pukelsheim, and her husband Detlef Mohaupt took over the management of the company. During this period, the processing of technical textiles grew in importance, including the cutting of fabrics made from aramid, glass, and carbon fibers. For these materials, the ROBUSO-proton® scissors were developed, which dramatically reduce cutting edge wear through the special proton® coating. The company’s own extensive product range was complemented with premium products from other manufacturers. Powerful electric and pneumatic scissors completed the portfolio.
4th Generation
In 2013, the time had come: With Christian Pukelsheim, the fourth generation took the helm of the mid-sized company. Under his leadership, ROBUSO will continue to leverage the advantages of a strong family business: lean organizational structures, short decision-making paths, and a knowledgeable team of employees. With over a century of experience in scissor production and a worldwide customer base, the name ROBUSO today stands not only for cutting expertise but also for passion for the business and the commitment to delivering the best possible performance and quality to the customer.
